NAT TURNER

Nat turner was a slave preacher, who left the slave plantation to return to his master , but God told him to kill all whites. He planned the largest slave uprising in 1828, Jerusalem, Virgina. Four slaves assisted him in killing 55 white people in 36 hours. The abolitionist reported in their newspaper called "THE LIBERATOR" the whole families were cut off both children, women, and men. After what happened politicians started to doubt slavery, but didn't have the guts to say it. Nat Turner also killed his own master. He compared himself to people in the bible so he believed that this was an act of God which the researcher Margret Washington called divined retribution. This tells us that Nat Turner was trying to set black slaves free and not being treated like dirt by white people.

Describe an infectious disease you might have had in the past? How do you think you got the disease? What did you do to get rid of it? How did you feel?

One infectious disease that I had in the past was pinkeye. I think I got pinkeye from not keeping my hands clean and then rubbing my eye which caused bacteria to get into my eye. My eye turned very red and I had to go to the doctor. The doctor gave me some eye drops that I had to use about four times a day for seven days. My eye was irritated and it itched and burned, and when I woke up it stayed shut from all the yucky fluids that were in my eye. I am so happy that's over with and I hope I never get pink eye again!

Create two word problems, one using density and the other using volume. Make sure you provide the answer the the problem.

Density: What is the density of a 12ml piece of material that has a mass of 48g?
12mL/48g= 4ml/g

Volume: Calculate the volume of a box with a length of 7cm, a width of 5cm, and a height of 10cm? 7x5=35x10=350 so the answer is 35.0cm (It would actually be 350 cubic centimeters Raven. You only have to move the decimal place if you are multiplying with decimals. Also, the unit is cubic centimeters. Good work nonetheless!)

Raven Thompson 3/6/2011

<!--[if gte mso 10]>
1. The density problem is 30/6 =
2. The volume problem is height = 4.5, width = 2.5, length = 5.5
1. Answer = 5 g/ml
2. Answer = 61.775
(Great work! Next time, make sure you write out a sentence for your word problem)
